Curriculum and Learning at LJBC
At LJBC we pride ourselves on providing a broad and relevant Curriculum which caters for students academically by allowing them to develop at their own pace whilst supporting their individual interests and emotional well-being. Our educational goal is develop young men and women of excellence who will leave the College well-equipped to enter the global community and play their part in a fast paced and ever changing knowledge driven environment. Our teachers understand that in a technology based world the concept of what knowledge is shifts and changes constantly and that successful graduates from the College will need to be able to be flexible in their thinking and problem solving – developing an ability to adapt, research and find answers as needed. Students from Pre Kindergarten to Year 12 are gradually introduced to a range of problem solving approaches to ensure that they are able to enter further study, apprenticeships or the labour market with confidence and a growth mindset.
Students from Pre Kindergarten to Year 10 are immersed in the ‘Australian Curriculum framework – Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline which provides students with exciting study opportunities and activities at every year level. Our Senior Secondary students work towards the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) in Year 11 and 12 and may opt to study one of two different pathways. Students may decide on a University Entry – ATAR pathway or a more General Pathway both of which can be augmented by a wide range of Vocation Education and Training options. We offer a broad range of subjects and will work alongside families where students may require subject or whole year level acceleration.
