The Lake Joondalup Baptist College curriculum
complies with the requirements of the Curriculum Council of Western
Australia Curriculum Framework for Kindergarten to Year 12 Education.
The Curriculum Framework divides learning into Eight Learning Areas. In
addition to the Eight Learning Areas, LJBC students also participate in
a Christian Education program.

dance, drama, visual arts
- Health & Physical

- English – reading,
writing, viewing, spelling, handwriting, language, computer literacy
- Language other than
English
- Mathematics
- Studies of Society and
Environment
- Science
- Technology & Enterprise
Aspects of the program
will:
- Challenge all students
to reach their full potential and develop their gifts responsibly
for the good of themselves and the wider community
- Involve teaching
methodologies based on a curriculum that is progressive and student
outcomes focussed
- Provide enrichment
programs to develop creativity and higher order thinking skills
- Provide remediation in
literacy and numeracy using Specialist Support Staff
- Involve students in
cross-cultural experiences to encourage students to value diversity
and individuality. Instruction in basic Indonesian and Japanese
languages will generally be offered as part of this program.
- Develop aesthetic
appreciation through the Music program. Recorder, choirs, and
percussion are offered as part of the program. Instrument tuition is
available in Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar,
Piano, Drums.
- Facilitate transition to
Secondary school with preparation experiences with Secondary school
staff and facilities
Personal Development
underpins the Primary School program:
- Students are given
opportunities to take on leadership roles as student councillors or
sports captains.
- Students are given
opportunities to develop greater self confidence and build self
esteem through an awareness of their strengths and gifts. They are
encouraged to developed informed opinions and engage in debate
around topical issues. Communication between with parents is a high
priority to enable all parties to work for the child’s
development.
