LJBC’s Secondary College provides 945 Secondary students with an outstanding education, within a Christian environment. The College delivers a curriculum with high academic standards and seeks to develop well-rounded young people, preparing them for a rapidly changing world.
With a focus on education for the 21st Century, Students at LJBC participate in an educational program which is a judicious balance between academic, sporting, social, spiritual and cultural pursuits. Students are immersed in opportunities that develop creative, innovative and collaborative thinking, essential skills for navigating life in a global economy. LJBC’s Lower Secondary School meets the particular academic, social and emotional needs of children in Years 7, 8 and 9. LJBC’s Senior Secondary program (Years 10, 11, 12) provides programs of study and structures more suited to older adolescents. LJBC’s Secondary educational program is rigorous, challenging and enjoyable, has high academic standards, aims to motivate and stimulate all students and is competitive in preparing students for entry to employment, Technical and Further Education (Polytech) and university.
Year 7 students are fully integrated into the Lower Secondary School, enjoying all the advantages of a secondary program, while also receiving the benefit of excellent support and pastoral care structures. The Year 7/8 Mentor works closely with parents, Heads of House and subject teachers to ensure that Year 7 students feel supported and safe during their transition to secondary schooling.
LJBC’s Lower Secondary curriculum is based on the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline in English, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography. The remaining subjects are currently aligned with the WA Curriculum Framework and are transitioning through to the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline as it is adapted for use in Western Australian classrooms.
