The Learning Enhancement Centre is staffed by a team of enthusiastic learning support specialists and provides excellent programs to assist students in improving their literacy and numeracy. Students requiring support are identified by a combination of classroom teacher assessments, observation and diagnostic testing. Learning Enhancement staff operate in classrooms as support personnel, facilitate small groups of students with similar abilities to address a particular need and assist teachers in developing suitable activities to address students’ needs. In the Secondary School, some Learning Areas (eg Maths and English) stream Lower Secondary classes to ensure that students who are struggling receive appropriate programs. Most Secondary Learning Areas offer after school subject clubs where students can receive extra assistance with work they have not understood, or missed due to absence.
Our Primary Learning Enhancement Programs offer learning support and extension. These programs are offered to assist students to achieve to the best of their abilities.
For those students who may be experiencing learning difficulties in Pre Kindergarten to Year 6, we offer learning support programs and assistance within an integrated and inclusive environment. This includes early detection and early intervention of learning difficulties, with support from specialist teachers in English and Mathematics.
Extension is offered to students from Year 2 to Year 6 who operate beyond year level curriculum. A number of team events are run throughout the year including Optiminds, Future Problem Solving, the Australian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiads and Academic All Stars.
