The House System

There are six Houses at Lake Joondalup Baptist College and each has its own identity, bible verse and colour. The Houses are named after ships which ran aground on the west coast of Australia. Students enter the House system on enrolment and remain in the same House for the remainder of their school years.

The Secondary Heads of House get to know each student and the family allocated to the House, ensuring a high standard of pastoral care. Each student is placed in a Connect group within their House and year group, and the groups meet daily. Students remain in the same Connect group throughout their time in Secondary College and so they get to know their Connect group teacher and peers well.

Students aspire to be elected as House Captains and House Councillors, these student leaders assist with the running of House Assemblies and other College events. The College Calendar features a variety of Inter House competitions, including swimming, athletics, cross-country, chess, English, Languages, Maths, Science and Music Eisteddfod. Student Leadership

At Lake Joondalup Baptist College we believe in developing strong leaders for the future. We actively develop leadership capacity and capability within our students through exposure to leadership development opportunities, and practical leadership experiences such as our buddy system, student committees and service opportunities.

In the Primary school, Student Councillors are elected from Years 4 and 5 and House Captains from Year 6. These student leaders receive leadership training and take an active part in leading Primary School Assemblies, and other important events.

The Year 12 Captains represent the student body through various leadership portfolios. These portfolios are: Head Girl and Head Boy, Music Captain, Chaplaincy Captains, Sport Captains, Drama Captain and House Captains. Student Councillors are elected from each year group per House and represent their year group on the Student Council for one year.
